AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF NEW MEXICO STATE PARKS:

With four days left in the 2009 legislative session, an historic bill to update the State Trails Act is very close to passage.  We need your help today to get HB 273 passed out of the Senate Finance Committee and on to the Senate floor.  Please contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee by phone or email (phone calls are best) and urge the Senators to pass HB273.

As many of you are interested in and supportive of the proposed Rio Grande Trail, you should know that HB 273 is essential for the ultimate success of the Rio Grande Trail project.

When you communicate with the Senators, stress these simple points:

1.       HB 273 will be extremely beneficial for trails programs in New Mexico and trails are the #1 recreation priority in the state.

2.       HB 273 has no fiscal impact.

3.       HB 273 has received zero ânoâ votes in any House or Senate committee, and passed the House 68-0.

4.       HB 273 will especially help the Rio Grande Trail project.

Please make a phone call and/or send an email today.  More detailed information about this bill can be found on the attached fact sheet.
