The Heather Reu Memorial Bike Ride will be held THIS Sunday, July 5 at 4:00 PM. We plan to âfinishâ Heatherâs ride as a way to honor her life and to remember how she has positively impacted the lives of the hundreds and hundreds of people who knew and loved her.
Heather was tragically struck and killed while riding her bicycle on Paseo del Volcan NW near Double Eagle Airport. She had been training for an upcoming triathlon. She is survived by her husband, Phil, and her four young children.
Many thanks to the members of BikeABQ who will be joining us and supporting us on this occasion.
We will start at the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Paseo del Volcan NW and ride north to Double Eagle Airport.
From point to point, the ride is 8 miles one-way. No one is required to make the entire trip, but we will be riding slowly and no rider will be left behind.
There are no services along the route, and very little shade. Plan on using plenty of sunblock and bring enough snacks and water for yourself and your group. I recommend at least one quart of water per person.
