For those who may not know on August 7th I underwent Rhino Septoplasty surgery to correct a deviated septum large enough to have it's own zip code ( according to the Doctor). Today I had the stints removed. Even though now it's only occasionally, by the end of the weekend I should no longer need to wear the nose diaper ( see photo) [it captures the sinus drainage and blood ].
Attached see me recovering in my back yard earlier this week. it was taken during one of my few lively moments.
I should be able to go back to work starting Monday or Tuesday. Later next week I can start walking the dog short distances. It will be a week before I can blow my nose. It will be more than a week before I can leave town or fly. Two more weeks before I can get back on a bike or do any exercise. And it will be a month before I'm allowed to go swimming or soak my head.
The fatigue should start to fade this weekend. My air intake should increase 90%, my snoring decrease 70%, Sense of smell increase 60% I should be able to tolorate allergeries better, bike farther and faster, sleep better. be more handsome and be a happier person.
Recovery is going well and I should loose the nose diaper in the next day or two. The proceedure did not change the shape of my nose. They did remove cartilage & bone, reshape some cartilage & bone, and reshape & increase some sinus passages. Oddly enough I did not get black eyes.
Get out there and ride your bike for me, and enjoy breathing! I'll join you in both as soon as I can.
